Please note that Thursday, June 25th, is a national holiday in Slovenia. Most local shops, supermarkets, and services will be closed, and public transport will run on a holiday schedule.
Cross-Border Shopping Tip: Gorizia - Italy
Since Nova Gorica sits directly on the border with Italy, you can easily cross over to the neighboring city of Gorizia (Italy), where it is a regular working day:
Thursday (Holiday): Shops, supermarkets, and pharmacies in Italy will remain open as usual.
Sunday Shopping: For teams staying until Sunday—when all shops in Slovenia are closed—supermarkets in Italy are also open on Sunday mornings and afternoons.
Tip: Natural Spots & Recreation
Because of the holiday and the hot weather, expect increased crowds at popular rivers, local cooling spots, and swimming pools.
We highly advise teams to check opening hours in advance and take advantage of the open shops just across the border in Italy if needed!
